FREMONT, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Feb. 7, 2005 -- Actelis Networks, the first company to deliver fiber-quality Ethernet services over existing copper networks announced it has raised $23 million in Series D funding. ATA Ventures led a tier-one panel of investors that included, Innovacom Venture Capital, Dupont Capital Management, The Carlyle Group, Walden International, New Enterprise Associates and Vertex. To date, Actelis has raised close to $100 million from blue-chip venture partners. In addition to strengthening carrier alliances, the new funds will be used to advance worldwide sales and deployments of Actelis high-speed access systems.

Where some may see a lack of fiber as a problem, Actelis Networks sees it as an opportunity to deliver high-bandwidth Ethernet services over the copper wire already in every building. Racking up a sizeable cadre of incumbent customers for its previous platforms, Actelis has released a new set of point-to-multipoint Ethernet-over-copper platforms: MetaLIGHT 130, MetaLIGHT 1300 and the compact MetaLIGHT 50. Each product uses standards-based G.SHDSL line code and complies with the emerging IEEE 802.3ah EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile) standard. This latest product line ... uses Actelis’ MetaLOOP technology, which features CTC (Cross Talk Cancellation) and CTM (Cross Talk Management) to deliver either 10-Mbps Ethernet service over two copper pairs or 5-Mbps service on a single pair.
