The Acquire software enables integrated fMRI image generation, allowing users to acquire data that will flow through a streamlined process. Built on a portfolio of patented technology, the software presents the patient with a variety of stimuli and captures the patient’s responses during functional MRI scanning sessions. Acquire ... supports acquisition of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). The quintessential business game--Acquire blows Monopoly out of the water. Around since the 1960s, Acquire is still as popular as ever. The most recent version, from Hasbro, is nicely done. If you ever played Monopoly and thought that it was based far too heavily on luck, Acquire is the perfect game for you.

Originally conceived as a game about the development and merging of hotel chains, the most recent edition of Acquire (published in 2000 by Avalon Hill) changed the theme slightly to become a game about corporate mergers. The goal is to strategically invest in the companies most likely to benefit from the mergers.

The hardest thing for new players to grasp about Acquire is that you don’t want your initial investments to gobble up their competitors— you want them to be gobbled themselves. The worst thing that can happen to you is to run out of money. A broke player can’t buy stock, so his opponents can overtake him for the majority bonuses. To prevent this from happening, you’ve got to be a majority shareholder in one of the first chains to get absorbed. This is a bit counterintuitive, since in most financial games the goal is to invest early in the long-term winners. In Acquire, having your pet company get sucked up by a rival is the only way to generate cash flow.
