   Abdulla Noman, a former employee of the US consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers got their visas, says that he took money and gifts to provide fraudulent visas to foreigners. He pleads guilty and is convicted. About 50 to 100 visas were improperly issued by Noman from September 1996 until November 2001, when he was arrested. However, a former visa officer in Jeddah, Michael Springmann, has claimed in the past that the Jeddah office was notorious for purposefully giving visas to terrorists to train in the US (see September 1987-March 1989).

   US Airways is cutting its fares on flights between Philadelphia International Airport and San Diego as part of its new low-cost GoFares program. As a way of competing at Philadelphia International with low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines, US Airways has ... cut fares from Philadelphia to Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Orlando, Fla., Las Vegas; Phoenix, and Providence, R.I. In July, US Airways is also cutting fares from Philadelphia to Houston; Los Angeles; Manchester, N.H.; New Orleans; Raleigh-Durham, N.C., and West Palm Beach, Fla. The cheapest prices are comparable with those offered by Southwest. US Airways, which is the dominant airline at Philadelphia International, created GoFares as a way of trying to maintain its No. 1 position at the airport despite the low fares at Southwest, which began flights out of Philadelphia in May. The cheapest one-way tickets from Philadelphia to San Diego will now be $94, and the most expensive ticket is $499. Previously, walkup fares to San Diego from Philadelphia were $1,286.

Complimentary wine, beer, and spirits are available along with premium snacks including cookies, chips, and cashews. Meals are provided on flights of 3.5 hours and longer. An EmPower power outlet is available at every first class seat on Airbus aircraft, but is not yet available on America West operated aircraft.

   The group, using previously classified documents, will discuss many well-documented cases, including two investigated by the US government. The first involves a Peruvian Air Force pilot who fired many rounds at a UFO which was not affected. The second was an Iranian Air Force pilot's attempt to fire at a UFO, but whose control panel became inoperable. "This case is a classic that meets all the necessary conditions for a legitimate study of the UFO phenomenon," stated the US Defense Intelligence Agency document on the Tehran incident.     A US Open grounds pass is admission onto the grounds and all courts except Arthur Ashe Stadium. A ticket to Arthur Ashe Stadium gives you a reserved seat in the stadium and access to all other courts.
