A Safe Place is a safe, confidential center where anyone wounded by abortion can find compassionate abortion recovery services. Services include individual and group abortion recovery for women (mothers), and for men (fathers) directly affected by abortion, as well as for others indirectly affected. A Safe Place provides a monthly general support group for those that have completed the recovery group study as well as professional counseling referrals as needed. Additional services include training and certification for abortion recovery facilitators (coaches), conference and event speaking, training and ongoing support for pregnancy resource centers and churches, as well as testimonies for groups, churches, etc.

It is currently illegal for anyone to have an abortion in Eire. However, the law does allow pregnant women to receive counselling and information about all their options. Make sure you choose a respected counselling service (see resources below) as some anti-abortion campaign groups have been known to masquerade as counselling services. If you then decide to have an abortion, it is your legal right to leave Ireland in order to do so. Most women travel to England where it is legal to have an abortion up to 24 weeks of pregnancy.
