Baddeley, who made his first U.S. Open cut in three tries, entered yesterday in contention, just two shots off the lead at 2-over par. His countryman, Geoff Ogilvy, won the Open last year at Winged Foot.

Baddeley made five birdies and only a single bogey, getting to -10 for the torunament. He is tied with Bubba Watson, two strokes behind leader Adam Scott and just one shot behind Rod Pampling. Baddeley has been a frequent fantasy selection this year with a win at the FBR in February and his great putting.
The only real downer for Baddeley in ’07 was the U.S. Open, where he took a two-shot lead into the final round and skied to a 10-over 80. Otherwise, it was all good for this truly phenomenal ball-striker and putter.
If the 26-year-old Baddeley is able to emerge as the 107th U.S. Open champion on Sunday, the world will take notice. But for Baddeley, a victory would only confirm what he's been expecting.

A stellar even-par 70 on Friday has Aaron Baddeley right in the thick of things at Oakmont. The young Australian doesn't want to get ahead of himself, but admits he'd love to follow countryman Geoff Ogilvy as U.S. Open champ.
"I felt really calm out there," said Baddeley, who is at 2-over 212 -- the same score that led the Open after three rounds a year ago at Winged Foot. "When I made bogey, I wasn't fussed a lot because you're going to make bogeys in the U.S. Open."
