1. Aaliyah
   Aaliyah was an actress and pop singer on the verge of superstardom when she was killed in a 2001 plane crash. She sang professionally as a child and released her first album, Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number (1994), when she was 14. She released the albumw One in a Million in 1996, and by the end of the decade she was working in the movies as an actress and composer. She co-starred with Jet Li in Romeo Must Die (2000), and her song from the movie, "Try Again," was a hit single. At the time of her death she had released three albums and had agreed to appear in two more films: Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned (2001) and the sequel to the 1999 Keanu Reeves film The Matrix.
2. Aaliyah -- Aaliyah Dana Haughton
   A star in the R&B world before she was even out of her teens, Aaliyah's promising career was tragically cut short by her death in a plane crash at age 22. Even with only three albums under her belt, she'd already earned a place as a talented trendsetter among the R&B elite. Following a successful transition to a more mature image, Aaliyah played a major role in popularizing the stuttering, futuristic production style that consumed hip-hop and urban soul in the late '90s. Her work with Timbaland, especially, was some of the most forward-looking R&B of its time, even while the competing neo-soul movement was gaining prominence. Aaliyah's death came on the heels of her third and most accomplished album, making it especially unfortunate that she was robbed of a chance to continue her creative development. Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, and named after a Swahili word meaning "most exalted one."
3. Aaliyah -- Aaliyah Haughton
   Aaliyah Haughton might not be a name that is instantly recognizable by the public, but she sure is trying hard to change that. After two successful albums, a movie (Romeo Must Die), and a concert tour, Aaliyah is slowly entering the public consciousness. Of course, to hip-hop fans, she is no stranger and she is widely recognized as the upcoming successor to Janet Jackson, a well-deserved reputation.
4. Aaliyah -- Singles
   Aaliyah's career continued to climb when in 1997, her single from the Anastasia soundtrack 'Journey to the Past' was nominated for an Academy Award. Performing it at the award, Aaliyah became the youngest female artist to perform there. With her single 'Are You That Somebody' from the Dr. Dolittle soundtrack, Aaliyah's success continued as it went to #1 on the R&B airplay charts.
5. Aaliyah -- Death
   Aaliyah was a GREAT and BEAUTIFUL person...her death was a tragic loss to many people around the world. NOt only her family but her millions of fans...she acheived things people can't do in a lifetime and she left a mark on many people's hearts that will last a lifetime.
6. Aaliyah -- Albums
   In 1994, when Aaliyah was on 14, she released her debut album Age Ain't Nothing But A Number. Spawning the hit singles Back & Forth, a No. 1 R&B song & Top 5 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 and At Your Best (You Are Loved) , the album was an instant success. Her follow-up album, One In A Million, went multi-platinum thanks to the signature syncopated beats of a then-unknown producer named Timbaland.
7. Aaliyah -- Songs
   Aaliyah had a huge hit in 1998 with "Are You that Somebody" (number one U.S. R&B airplay, eight weeks), the main single from the Doctor Doolittle soundtrack. Its video was the third most-played on MTV that year, and the song's success helped make Aaliyah a household name. The single was a Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart.
8. Aaliyah -- Jet Li
   Aaliyah is a very beautiful, sweet little girl. She is all fur! Sadly, Aaliyah is FIV+... she is in very good health otherwise. She is very much a lap cat who would ador nothing more than to lounge with a loving owner.
9. Aaliyah -- Star Search
   From a film career standpoint Aaliyah had obtained roles in "Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions", "Honey", "Sparkle" (she met with Whitney Houston whose company was producing "Sparkle") and a true story that was based on an interracial love. She actually pitched it with one of her agents from CAA to Fox Searchlight. It was accepted with Aaliyah in the lead role!!! Unadulterated Business savvy at 22!
10. Aaliyah -- Gladys Knight
    A significant contribution to Aaliyah's ability to work as a stage performer came after her stint on Star Search when she worked with her aunt. Aaliyah began to perform on stage in Las Vegas with Gladys Knight and accredits this for helping her develop.
