Founded in the 1930's, GEHA was one of the first insurance carriers to provide coverage to federal employees under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Act. The company offers fee-for-service health plans with a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and among the first in the federal market to launch a new high-deductible health plan that can be paired with a health savings account (HSA).
By 1930, Stutz Motor Car Company was in severe financial trouble due to the Great Depression, but continued producing cars. The ownership at the time was attempting to redefine the company as a maker of luxury cars, getting away from the pure race and sports car image of its past.
Founded in 1930, Vernon Tool Company provides solutions to difficult pipe fabrication and process flow issues in industrial construction, as well as heavy fabrication uses in the infrastructure and energy-related segments. Two of the current owners of Vernon Tool will remain with the company.
In 1930, Harry C. Stutz died. Stutz was the founder of the Ideal Motor Car Co. of Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1911, incorporated to manufacture the Stutz Model A. The Model A was a production version of the 1911 Indy car racer - the race car known as "The car that made good in a day". In 1912 the legendary Stutz Bearcat was introduced. In 1913 the Ideal Motor Car Co. was reorganized as Stutz Motor Car Company.
Mr. Elmezzi, who reformulated Pepsi and created Diet Pepsi, worked in Executive Positions for the soft drink giant from the early 1930's to 1968. During that time, he was the only person who knew the formula to make the soda, and spent much of his time crisscrossing the globe to open bottling plants for the company and mixing limited batches of the secret ingredients. On several occasions, Mr. and Mrs. Elmezzi were treated at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. In appreciation of the care they received, Mr. and Mrs. Elmezzi developed a long-term relationship with the hospital, supporting various research initiatives over the years.
With more than 1,200 members, HOLUA has served on individual membership basis since 1930. IHOU was created in 1937 as a company membership association. It currently has 471 member companies. AHOU membership will be composed of individual underwriters and others associated with the selection of individual life, health and/or living benefits risks.
