MAJOR MODEL YEAR FEATURES:The “1923” touring car style was introduced in September 1922, with a one-man top and sloping windshield, but otherwise the body was the same as the 1922. The runabout followed about November, with a new body and turtle deck as well. A new “Fordor” sedan appeared in December 1922, which used aluminum panels throughout the body. The cowl section and lower body section were changed to steel during the year. There was no cowl vent in the early Fordor sedans but the vent was added during early 1923, before the change to the larger hood. The Coupelet and Sedan (Centerdoor) continued into 1923 with minor modifications that were introduced in 1922, but were both replaced with the new Coupe and Tudor Sedan in August 1923.

By 1923, many right wing parties had gravitated to southern Germany and primarily Bavaria. Here there were geographically as far away from Berlin without totally isolating themselves from the German people. Their headquarters was essentially Munich.

In 1923, the Giants-Yankees rivalry extended beyond the white lines of the baseball diamond. John McGraw's venerable National League club evicted the upstart Yankees from their newly renovated home park, the Polo Grounds, which the two teams had shared since 1913. The Yankees responded by building Yankee Stadium, a monumental state-of-the-art facility a short distance across the Harlem River in the Bronx. As luck would have it, both teams won their third straight pennants to meet again in October.

In 1923, Henry Ford drove 44-year-old St. Paul, Minn., auto dealer Merritt J. Osborn out of business. Never down for long, M.J. developed a new product, Absorbit, which cleaned carpets on the spot and eliminated the need for hotels to shut down while their carpets were being cleaned. He called his new company Economics Laboratory (EL), reflecting its mission to save customers time, labor and money with "economic" solutions developed through "laboratory" research.

In 1923, the Gamma chapter in North Carolina of Phi Beta Kappa was established at Davidson. Over 1500 men and 500 women have been initiated into Davidson's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.[28]
