In its final form, the 1911 was a locked-breech, single-action semi-automatic pistol. It was chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge and had a magazine capacity of seven rounds. Its weight unloaded was 39 ounces; overall length was 8.25"; the height was 5.25". Sights were fixed, although the rear sight was housed in a dovetail slot that allowed it to be drifted either left or right for windage adjustments. The pistols were finished in blue and fitted with checked wood stocks.

Advertisement for the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica, from the May 1913 issue of National Geographic Magazine. The Encyclopædia Britannica Eleventh Edition (1910–1911) is perhaps the most famous edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica. Some of its articles were written by the best-known scholars of its time. The articles are still of value and interest to modern scholars as cultural artifacts of the 19th and early 20th centuries; ... they contain a number of problematic areas for the modern scholar using them as a primary source.
From August 12th to 20th, 1911, Chicago, Illinois, was host to the greatest aviation meet held in the U.S. during the Exhibition Era. Grant Park, a vast open area located between Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan, was the site of the meet. The location was spectacular, the crowd watched the aerial contrivances from huge bleachers seating 75,000 people, with the sometimes brooding, sometimes shimmering Lake Michigan as a backdrop.
For the 1911 census each province was divided into census districts. These districts were subsequently divided into sub-districts. Districts were roughly equivalent to electoral districts, cities, and counties. Sub-Districts were roughly equivalent to towns, townships, and city wards.
