The 1905 has plenty of other user-friendly features: a central quick-lift for simultaneously lifting all five units; height adjustable and tilt steering option. And while the 1905 is simple to operate, it’s ... safe, thanks to the Safety Interlock System, controlled by the patented White Box.

The 1905 Wright Flyer 3 over Huffman Prairie. The 1905 Wright Flyer III resulted from careful, painstaking engineering. By 1905, the Wrights had solved all the problems associated with stability and control and had modified the Flyer to what they regarded as its final design. They had completely mastered the art of circling. They had made a sustained flight of more than 24 miles (38.6 kilometers), which although it lasted less than an hour, was a forerunner of longer flights to come. In short, the Flyer III was the world's first practical airplane. The Wrights were pleased.
In such an atmosphere, on January 22, 1905, a priest, Father Gapon, who was one of the organizers of the pro-government trade unions, decided to lead a group of workers to present a petition to the Czar at the Winter Palace. The petition included political and economic demands. Political demands were the calling of an elected duma, freedom of speech and assembly, guarantee of fair trials and an amnesty for political prisoners. Economic demands were more labour legislation, the eight-hour day, a reduction in indirect taxes and the introduction of a graduated income tax. The petition ... demanded to end the war immediately. The petition was signed by 135,000 persons.

The first model of the M-1905 bayonet was manufactured between 1906 and 1922 by the Rock Island and Springfield Arsenals (marked SA or RI with the Ordnance Department symbol, along with year and serial number). Technically this was called the "Model of 1905" since the M numbering system did not begin until the mid-1920s. The blade was 16" in length and the bayonet was 20" overall. Each bayonet had its own unique serial number (range 1 to 1,196,000). The grips were made of wood inset to the metal of the handle. The metal parts of the bayonet were unfinished until about 1917, after which they were parkerized.
