Built in 1903, the Washington Park Boat House is a significant structure from both an historical and architectural point of view. The restoration of this structure included a new roof, structural repair, new plaster and a complete overhaul of its electrical system. The project was completed by the end of 1987, thanks to generous foundation support and the efforts of the Denver Parks and Recreation Department and The Park People. The building is in constant use during the summer months, and during the winter its strings of light brighten the ice-covered lake.

The final tally shows that the class of 1903 was not wanting in decorations. Four Distinguished Service Crosses were earned; three of them were MacArthur’s. Twenty-seven Distinguished Service Medals were earned; five of them were MacArthur’s. Ten Silver Stars were earned; seven of them were MacArthur’s. Four Purple Hearts were earned; two of them were MacArthur’s. Six Legion of Merit awards were earned by class members.

In March of 1903, the mayor of Boston requested the Liberty Bell for exhibition at the 128th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill. Once approved, the Bell was scheduled for the trip from June 15 through June 20. The bell train left Philadelphia on June 15 with a mayoral escort. The Liberty Bell was greeted with gun salutes, bands playing, and cheering crowds throughout the 13 scheduled stops on the way to Boston. The Bell arrived in Boston on June 16 where it was transferred to a decorated float drawn by 13 horses (each horse represented one of the 13 original colonies.)

The 1903 aircraft was similar to the 1902 craft, but now with a longer forty foot wing span, a six foot chord, five feet between the wings, and twin rudders and elevators. The biggest difference between the 1902 and 1903 was the addition of the propulsion system. The aircraft used twin pusher propellers located behind the wings and made to rotate in opposite directions so that the rotational forces would cancel out. The Wright brothers were the first to recognize that an aircraft propeller acted like a rotating wing. They designed and made their own propellers based on their wind tunnel experiments. To turn the propellers, the brothers needed a gas engine.

Late in the 1903 season, the owners of the two first-place clubs agreed amongst themselves to play a best-of-nine, postseason world championship series. American League's Boston came back to win 5-3 after being down 3-1 to the heavily favored Pirates.
