The dollar baby "Night Surf" was adapted from one of the King's earlier writings. The short story "Night Surf" first appeared in Spring 1969 issue of Ubris, a literary magazine of the University of Maine, Orono. It was first available for mass market in a heavily revised form in the August 1974 issue of Cavalier magazine.
