The "Legal Advice and Assistance Scheme" is run by the Legal Services Commission (LSC) and is available to qualifying applicants to provide free initial divorce advice from a solicitor. Eligibility under the scheme is determined after consideration of income and assets by the solicitor in his office. For those clients who are eligible, a solicitor is able to give initial help ... this does not cover representation in court for which an application for full legal aid for divorce must be made to the LSC. In the event that the applicant is not eligible under the scheme most solicitors will give a free half hour interview.
