ANGLE
Dr. Angle’s primary research interest is in vascular biology, or the behavior of cells in the blood vessels in health and disease. He studies the most fundamental characteristics of endothelial and smooth muscle cell function. He investigates the causes of blockages in the arteries, such as growth factors that may cause blood vessel cells to multiply. In the vascular biology research laboratory he has established at UCSD, he is collaborating with researchers from the UCSD Departments of Bioengineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering to apply a combination of biology and bioengineering principles to the study of vascular disease and its treatment. He is ... involved in clinical trials of therapies for vascular problems, including a new thrombolytic agent to treat acute limb ischemia.
