Released in August 1997, Mega Man Legends is Mega Man's first adventure in a 3D environment. 3000 years after the first Mega Man series, the world has flooded. The world's source of power is dependent upon "Refractors". Diggers explore ancient ruins in search of these refractors and various other treasures. On a dig, Barrel Casket and Roll find a baby and name him Mega Man. Now Roll and Mega Man are in search of refractors, Roll's Parents, and the Mother Lode. While searching for the Mother Lode, Mega Man and Roll must land on the nearby Kattelox Island because of engine trouble.
